NASA/JPL/NGAHispaniola - Tectonics, earthquakes, hazard assessments, current events (02/12/2010)
The devastating earthquake at Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on January 12, 2010, occurred on the Enriquillo-Plantain Garden fault, visible here as a prominent linear landform immediately southwest of the city of Port-au-Prince and as a series of fault traces extending westward along the full length of the southern peninsula into the Dominican Republic. Horizontal and vertical offsets of the surface topography make the fault easily observed in topographic data. Credit: NASA/JPL/NGA
